Christmas Luncheon

Sister Lee joined us for Christmas Luncheon this year and showed us a thing or two about Christmas Luncheon (Texan style) minus the customary stuffed turkey with cranberry juice which nobody wanted. We started off with Grilled Cheese using Edam Cheese. Edam is a semi-hard cheese that originated in the Netherlands, and is named after the town of Edam in the province of North Holland. Edam is traditionally sold in spheres with a pale yellow interior and a coat of red paraffin wax What I particularly liked about this cheese is that it was chewy and not too saltish. Both sides of the bread was buttered before cheese slices were laid on the surface. The bread was laid on the grilling pan until the cheese melted. One word. Yummilicious! For meat, we're having pineapple ham roast. Nobody wanted stuffed turkey. Chicken is forbidden food. We had pork roast last year so roast ham seemed like the logical choice. We got one of these and popped it into the oven to heat it up. Whipped Potato is next.
